The WHIG/WHIDG is a belt consisting of wide left and/or right spirals which are intertwined. The belt is strengthened by means of a straight cross rod. In the case of a WHIDG there is a double intertwined spiral per cross rod.
For a straight belt run, pieces of the same length with alternated left and right spirals are often connected to one another.

  • – Longitunal pitch: 4,4 mm up to 30 mm
  • – Lateral pitch: 4,4 mm up to 20 mm
  • – Spiral wire: ø 0,8 mm up to 4 mm
  • – Cross rod wire: ø 2,5 mm up to 5 mm
  • – Materials: all obtainable wire types in tensile strengths of 600 – 1050 N/mm2
  • – Temperature range: ambient up to approximately 1150 °C
  • – Range of the width of the belt: technically seen up to 6500 mm, in practice < 1000 mm

The WHIG/WHIDG belts are characterised by:

  • – Extremely suitable for heavy loads in combination with high temperatures
  • – Steering sensitive, since spirals are only wounded to the left or to the right. The belt can be steered better when pieces of the same length are connected to alternated left and right windings.
  • – Drive on the basis of friction; a large enough drive roller is necessary.
  • – Preferred support: herringbone motive
  • – Large passing range, from very closed to very open
  • – Very flexible since every set of spiral-cross rod is separate from the following set
  • – The straight belt run is guaranteed by alternated left and right spirals
  • – Tools are inflexible; not every combination of longitunal /lateral pitch/ spiral wire/cross rod wire is possible.
  • – Good relation between the technical life span and the purchase value of the belt

The WHIG/WHIDG belt is often used in ovens for high temperature treatments since this belt is resistant to high temperatures. The treatments the belts are used for are for example, harden, sintering, tempering, hard soldering, etc. Just like the general WH belt, the WHIG/WHIDG can be used for façade covering of buildings and bridges.
