The balanced weave belt with U-hook is, just as “Type 100: WG”, a woven belt existing of left and right spirals twined into one another by means of undulated cross rods.
The difference concerns the side finishing of the belt. With “type 300: WU”, the cross rods at the end are bended in the direction of the previous cross rod. The cross rod is then bended around the previous cross rod.

The WU belts are characterised by:

  • – Round bended side finishing which minimalizes the chance on ‘’hooks’’ in the side guards.
  • – Drive on the basis of friction; large enough drive roller is necessary
  • – Preferred support: herringbone motive with a PE1000 contact surface
  • – Large passing range, from very closed to very open
  • – The spirals remain in their position due to undulated cross rods
  • – Very flexible since every set of spiral-cross rod is separate from the following
  • – The straight belt run is guaranteed by alternated left and right spirals
  • – Tools are inflexible; not every combination of longitunal pitch/lateral pitch/ spiral wire/cross rod wire is possible.
  • – The production of Type 310: WU is more labour-intensive than that of both, Type 100: WG and the flattened Type 200: WG. The belt is therefore, with regard to the delivery time and cost technically, less favourable than the WG belts.

The balanced weave belts with U-side finishing are, just as “Type 300: WS”, relatively uncommon when compared to the WG belts with welded side finishing. “Type 100: WG” or the flattened “Type 200: WG” are mostly chosen due to the increasing costs of the U-sides. In situations whereby there are common returning problems with belts which keep ‘’caught’’ in the side guards of an installation, and where this cannot be remedied by means of adjustments in the alignment and/or the steering of an installation, the choice for a ‘’Type 33” WU belt could be considered. Conveyor belts in tunnels for high temperature treatment processes and oven belts in bread-/pastry ovens are the only applications which are common for a WS belt.
